NJ Transit trains at Newark Broad Street railfanning part 1 (ALP-45DP Mode Changes)
Recently I have been busy with high amounts of college work so I haven't been able to film. Now that work has somewhat lightened up I decided to go out to Newark Broad Street for a few hours. Here we see many midday trains on the Morris & Essex Line, Montclair-Boonton Line, and the Gladstone Branch Line. All trains where powered by an ALP-46 or ALP-46A electric locomotives but on the Gladstone Branch Line all trains are being powered by ALP-45DP Dual-Mode locomotives due to the catenary being out in Hoboken. I also was able to observe the ALP-45DP during mode changes which I found was relatively quick when switching from electric to diesel or diesel to electric power. Also today there wheren't many multilevel trains at this time. One was a deadhead and the other only had 4 cars open. Rate and comment!
