Peace Corps Volunteer Works on an Urban Garden at a Hospital in Senegal
Peace Corps Volunteer Jared Tharp from Chowchilla, California, is working on an urban garden at a hospital in Senegal. The large garden produces several different types of vegetables that are used as alternative meals that feed a majority of the patients in the infectious diseases ward at the hospital. He also tends to several smaller gardens that are used by the patients as part of their therapy and works with local families to develop their own sustainable food sources.
