Wild Mushroom Identification Walk- Early November 2023
Want to learn about those wild, trail-side fungi that you're seeing this time of year? Look no further! Aaron Hilliard, VP of the Kitsap Peninsula Mycological Society, takes us on a walk to look at and describe a bunch of wild mushrooms growing trailside in western Washington. These magical Pacific Northwest forests are home to beautiful fungi, and autumn is the perfect time to go out and look at them, discover what they are, and find out if they're good to eat, poisonous, or perhaps hallucinogenic. Aaron has been studying fungi for over 25 years and is a well known mycology educator in the Kitsap area. He puts things in simple terms you can understand. This video is for beginners and experienced fungal enthusiasts alike. Come along into this journey into Mushroom Wonderland. We will look at Hypholoma dispersum, Hypholoma fasciculare, Suillus lakei, Gomphidius smithii, Xeromphalina, Amanitas, Lions Mane, Cats tongue, Zellers Bolete and so many others! We also look at wild running salmon and the largest tree in the area. Make sure to subscribe.
