Nikita Koshkin - Pavana (played by Marina Krupkina, decacorde)

"Pavana" was composed for decacorde by famous modern guitar composer Nikita Koshkin. This piece is dedicated to Marina Krupkina. It's a brand new composition to enlarge the decacorde's repertoire, which is now not as rich as classical guitar's one. "Pavana" is the first part of a dance suite by Nikita Koshkin "Pavana and Gagliard". "Gagliard" was composed for LUTE in 1975 (!!), together with the first version of "Pavana". But "Gagliard" has never been performed, meanwhile "Pavana" has been lost. In 2018 searching for the repertoire I decided to play "Gagliard". Despite the fact that the piece was written for lute, it was easy to play it on decacorde without the transcription. Once Nikita Koshkin learned about it, he decided to restore the lost "Pavana" to give a new life to the suite. But finally the new piece, new "Pavana" has been born. Only the beginning reminds about the first variant. This "Pavana" is a kind of special. The basses are used rather intensively. Unlike the XX century and earlier tendencies, when basses were used mostly in opened positions, this piece shows the new approach. I believe, that I also influenced on that.
