Vice President Gibran Rakabuming visited the Al Hamid Islamic Boarding School in Cilangkap, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (March 3, 2026), as part of his Ramadan Safari. During the visit, the Vice President met with the Head of Al Hamid Islamic Boarding School, K.H. Lukman Hakim Hamid, the board of directors, and the students. On various occasions, the Vice President emphasized the important role of students in responding to the challenges of the times, especially amidst the acceleration of technological advancement. "In this era of increasingly massive technological advancement, we want Islamic boarding schools to be able to produce students who are technologically proficient, whether in modern agriculture, modern animal husbandry, robotics, blockchain, and AI," said the Vice President. "Students must be able to create opportunities, become pioneers of innovation that create solutions, and be part of change, without losing the identity and moral values ​​inherent in them," he added. The Vice President emphasized that strengthening the capacity of Islamic boarding schools needs to be done comprehensively. He acknowledged that there are still a number of challenges that must be addressed together. "Indeed, there are still many things we need to improve together, starting from the governance of Islamic boarding schools, accessibility to technology and training, accessibility to capital to support the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools, as well as various government assistance programs such as the KIP (Indonesian Student ID Card), MBG (Indonesian Student ID Card), CGK (Indonesian Student ID Card), and others," he added. Furthermore, the Vice President emphasized the government's commitment under President Prabowo Subianto to making Islamic boarding schools a vital part of the national development agenda. "However, the government under President Prabowo's leadership has a strong commitment to developing Islamic boarding schools and making them part of the national development agenda. That is why the President has established the Directorate General of Islamic Boarding Schools," he said. According to the Vice President, as the President often states, today's Islamic boarding school students (santri) must emerge as a generation that not only maintains the nation's morals but also becomes a driving force for progress. "Because, as the President has always said, the role of today's Islamic boarding school students is not only as guardians of the nation's morals but also as pioneers of progress with morals, knowledge, and competitiveness," he added. Meanwhile, Kiai Lukman, the caretaker of the Al Hamid Islamic Boarding School, stated that the Vice President's visit held historical significance, as the foundation stone for the school's construction was laid by the 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, General (Ret.) Try Sutrisno. The visit concluded with congregational Asr prayers at the Mantab Al Falah Mosque within the Islamic boarding school complex, along with a group photo with the students.
