Bersa Thunder 380: The Dirty Argentinian - Tactiholics™
Be sure to Like, Comment, and Subscribe / tactiholics We spent some time behind the Bersa Thunder 380 and got it on video for you. The Bersa we have has never had any issues cycling or functioning, however if you read gun forums it isn't uncommon for people to complain of these problems. That is, in part, due to the price point and quality control of Bersa, along with the 380ACP chambering - .380 guns are typically slightly smaller and "lighter-built" (as far as springs, etc. in the gun) than a 9mm, making them a bit more prone to jamming if not maintained well. That being said, this Bersa is a smooth shooting weapon and offers a decent amount of creature comforts that may appeal to some shooters. The Bersa has small, but still useable, 3 dot sights, a double action/single action trigger, thumb safety/decocker on the left side of the slide, comfortable rubber grips, and a large (for it's frame size) tang area to allow for good purchase on the gun. The safety is a bit counter-intuitive in my opinion, as it moves up for "fire" and down for "safe" similar to the Beretta 92. I find the reverse pattern - 1911-style - to be easier to function, but if having an external thumb safety is important to you, at least it has one. Being chambered in .380ACP there is very little recoil, and the weapon control while shooting is enhanced by the sticky rubber grip and large tang. All in all, it is not a bad gun to shoot, and is very popular for women and concealed carry options. I do think there are better defensive choices out there, most of which are striker fired 9mms, but in the Bersa's price range, it will out-perform some of it's competition.
