FARADAY'S LAW - ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION. Obtaining Electric Current A magnetic field induces (creates) electric current when the magnet is in motion. A stationary magnet does not generate electric current. The movement of electrons (EC) depends on the speed of the magnet's movement. The dynamo was the first commercial direct current generator. In Europe, the first dynamo was invented by Italian physicist Antonio Pacinotti (1860) and Belgian researcher Zenobe Gramme (1870). In America, it was invented by inventor Thomas Edison (1864), who marketed it and used it for electric lighting in a section of New York. Other inventors in Europe introduced the commercial ZBD dynamo.
