Toxoplasmosis - John Frean
Prof Frean is, among other things, head of NICD's Parasitology Reference Laboratory at the Centre for Emerging Zoonotic and Parasitic Diseases. Toxoplasma gondii is a deceptively complicated beast, with a quirky lifecycle and an erratic spectrum of effects on us poor humans (though nothing as bad as what happens to rodents if they're infected...!). Prof Frean takes us through the microbiology and clinical implications of toxoplasmosis in humans.
