POAH! Eicher EM 1001

This week in POAH! This is the Eicher EM 1001 belonging to Piet van der Sluis from Genemuiden. The tractor was built in 1961, has 12 hp, and is a single-cylinder. ‘Only 8 of them were built; then they switched to 2-cylinder tractors, which have a bit more power,’ explains Van der Sluis. The tractor was purchased new by his father at the time to help local farmers with fieldwork as a contractor. Van der Sluis doesn't actually mow anymore. ‘I want to keep it in good condition because it is belt-driven, and it is very difficult to get hold of parts if one breaks.’ Would you like to feature your tractor in this column too?
