Mohamed Uthman Kidumbak Group - 'Kidole Chauma Sana'

The Mohamed Othman Kidumbak Group is led by Mohamed Othman Faki, who teaches music at the Dhow Countries Music Academy. Kidumbak is a style of music with three main influences: Taarab, Unyago, and Rumba. The word dumba means "big drum," while the kidumba is a smaller, bongo-like drum — ki- being a diminutive prefix. Mohamed Othman became interested in the Kidumbak style at the age of sixteen and taught himself to play the violin and bass. From 2000 to 2006, he studied oud and violin in Egypt on a scholarship from the DCMA.
