Throw your arms around me, by Hunters and Collectors (most of us just called them "Hunners" down here) has to be one of the most beautiful 3 chord songs I know. Simple, distinctive, and through the roof on the sing-a-long and party hits scale. It's been covered widely, quite famously by Crowded House, whose bass player, Nick Seymour is the younger brother of the man who wrote the song, Mark Seymour. Mark is the singer/guitarist/songwriter of H&C and is now a treasured Australian solo artist. It's well worth delving into both Mark Seymour's, and Hunters and Collectors back catalogue.
