Brazilian Brothers Put the F-One Trigger to the Test | Brainchild vs TEC
Got questions about gear? 🤙🏽 Contact us HERE: https://www.mackiteboarding.com/conta... In this comparison, the Brazilian Brothers break down the differences between the F-One Trigger Brainchild and the F-One Trigger TEC after extensive riding in Brazil. While the two kites share the same Trigger name and designer, Ralf Groesel, they are built on entirely different design platforms. The Trigger Brainchild is produced at the Brainchild factory in Macedonia and features Prodel technology, which allows for a significantly reduced leading-edge diameter. This results in a notably lighter kite overall, with the 8m weighing just 2.56 kg. By contrast, the Trigger TEC is built at F-One’s factory using DL1 140 canopy material but without Prodel technology, making it heavier at 2.84 kg in the same size. These construction differences immediately translate into distinct on-the-water characteristics. In the air, the Trigger Brainchild feels much lighter and more reactive on the bar. Small bar inputs lead to quick, precise kite movement, making it feel fast and lively. The Trigger TEC, on the other hand, has higher bar pressure and a slower turning speed, which provides constant feedback and a clearer sense of where the kite is positioned. This heavier feel is seen as a benefit for less experienced riders who value predictability and stability. When it comes to jumping, the Brothers rate both kites equally in terms of raw performance. Each delivers strong vertical lift and excellent hang time, including solid second lift after loops. However, the Trigger TEC’s slower speed and larger sweet spot make it more forgiving, allowing riders to gain height even with less-than-perfect timing or technique. Looping performance is where the Trigger Brainchild clearly stands out. Its combination of light bar pressure, fast turning speed, and quick recovery makes it especially well-suited for progression in kite loops. Both kites loop with relatively little yank, which is ideal for riders learning and refining loops, but the Brainchild’s speed and responsiveness make it more confidence-inspiring when pushing progression. In terms of overall ease of use, the Brothers consider the kites a tie, though for different reasons. The Trigger TEC is easier to gain height, land softly, and control rotations or board-offs thanks to its bar pressure and forgiving nature. The Trigger Brainchild, however, excels for riders focused on advancing their heli-loops and kite loops, offering a friendly yet performance-oriented feel. In their final verdict, the Brazilian Brothers chose the Trigger Brainchild as their favorite for its lighter bar pressure, faster handling, and superior loop progression. They believe it justifies its higher price for riders who are already jumping close to 10 meters and want to push their big-air and looping skills further. The Trigger TEC is recommended for riders who are not yet at that level and want a smoother, more controlled kite that makes jumping, rotations, and board-offs easier to manage. Ultimately, both kites are praised as excellent options, each catering to different riding styles and progression goals.
