Can Finland become carbon neutral by 2035? - BBC Newsnight
Finland has an ambitious target - to be carbon neutral in 15 years, by 2035. Subscribe to our channel here: https://goo.gl/31Q53F For decades a company called Vapo has harvested peat on an industrial scale. Peat - decayed vegetation which is then dried - is burnt like a fossil fuel. As a power source it's dirtier than coal and, after it's been harvested, drained peat-lands continue to emit greenhouse gasses. So, is Finland doing enough to ensure they achieve carbon neutrality in just 15 years time? Newsnight is the BBC's flagship news and current affairs TV programme - with analysis, debate, exclusives, and robust interviews.
