Anders als viele klassische Einsatzspiele konzentriert sich Global Rescue nicht nur auf einzelne Missionen, sondern auf den langfristigen Aufbau und das Management deiner Organisation. Du stellst Personal ein, kaufst Fahrzeuge, planst die Infrastruktur deiner Basis und reagierst auf Notfälle, die überall in deiner Stadt entstehen können. Das Besondere: Die Spielwelt basiert auf echten Kartendaten. Dadurch kannst du Einsätze in realen Städten auf der ganzen Welt erleben, mit realistisch generierten Straßen, Kreuzungen und Stadtstrukturen. Von Verkehrsunfällen über Brände bis hin zu größeren Katastrophen musst du schnell entscheiden, welche Einheiten du schickst und wie du deine Ressourcen optimal einsetzt. Neben der Einsatzkoordination spielen auch Planung und Strategie eine große Rolle. Du entwickelst deine Basis weiter, schaltest neue Fahrzeuge und Technologien frei und versuchst, deine Rettungsorganisation immer effizienter zu machen. Zusätzlich soll ein Missionseditor sowie Modding-Support es der Community ermöglichen, eigene Einsätze zu erstellen und zu teilen. Global Rescue verbindet damit Echtzeit-Einsatzsteuerung mit Management- und Aufbauelementen und richtet sich vor allem an Spieler, die komplexe Rettungseinsätze planen und koordinieren möchten.
