In the former Oflag VII-A prison camp for Polish officers, Murnau, Germany
Recently I visited Murnau, Germany to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Oflag VII-A, a prison camp for over 5,000 Polish officers during World War II, which included both of my grandfathers. The former camp is currently a German army barracks. Civilians aren't normally allowed inside, but as part of the commemoration events, a special exception was made. Photos from my visit including the dramatic moment of a firefight between the Americans and Germans at the camp gate: https://researchteacher.com/visiting-... Film of the camp being liberated made by the US Army: https://researchteacher.com/film-the-... Archival materials relating to the camp theatre: https://www.hoover.org/news/drama-beh...
