CM Directs Tirumala Tirupati Co-op to Comply, Rush Seen at Branches

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that representatives of the Tirumala Tirupati Multistate Co-operative Credit Society had met him and were directed to comply with all requirements and submit the reports sought in the notice, after which the government would decide on further action. “Representatives of the Tirumala Tirupati Credit Society met me today. I have asked them to submit the reports mentioned in the notice and comply with all conditions. Only then will the government take a decision on the matter,” the Chief Minister said. Meanwhile, panic gripped several depositors, leading to a huge rush at certain branches of the society, with account holders seeking clarity on the status of their deposits. In a related development, the Panaji branch of the Tirumala Tirupati Multistate Co-operative Credit Society has written to the Registrar of Co-operative Societies seeking withdrawal of the show-cause notice and revocation of the suspension of its No Objection Certificate (NOC). In a letter dated February 4, the branch representative, Diptesh Sawant, apologised for the non-submission of required documents and assured the Registrar that all necessary documents would be submitted in a timely manner in the future. The society also requested that the submitted documents be accepted for inspection purposes. The issue has come under sharp public focus following regulatory action against the society, with depositors anxiously awaiting clarity from both the government and the cooperative authorities.
