Dominica Jungle Adventure (We crossed 3 RIVERS) to Paradise | Travel Vlog

Join us on our adventure as we travel through Dominica's jungle to arrive at our luxurious eco-villa. Banana Lama eco-villas (https://www.bananalamaecovilla.com/) are a collection of gorgeous villas situated in the jungle. Surrounded by rivers and forest, they really are a piece of paradise. As if the location isn't cool enough, the hosts (Melissa and Andy) grow all the fruit and vegetables themselves with extensive organic gardens surrounding the villas. They also have their own chickens for eggs and all electricity is solar-powered. Banana Lama is unlike anywhere I have ever visited. It's a hidden oasis full of many surprise gems (you'll have to watch the video to learn what I'm talking about here). From the delicious food to the gorgeous rooms, it is a place I can't recommend enough. I say unexpected, but I WAS the one who booked our Caribbean trip in the peak hurricane reason so what else did I really expect?! The 24 hour delay had a knock-on effect on our onward journey. Sadly, I wasn't able to get in touch with our car rental company in time when our plane was cancelled so they spent the whole day waiting for us, only for us to not turn up. The following day they were busy so were unable to drop the car off at the airport, like we originally planned. As a result, they booked a taxi for us instead which took us to their head-office to pick up the car. The drive took over an hour and was followed by a hunt for a working ATM (this seems to be a trend of mine. If you've watched my The Gambia series, you'll know finding an ATM was also an issue for us there. When will I learn?). A couple of hours later, we FINALLY got the money needed to pay for a taxi. Phew. We were staying at an eco-villa called Banana Lama eco-villas. The side road leading to Banana Lama was crazy and I say that in a very good way. There's nothing I love more than off-roading - journeying to the unknown surrounded by nothing but vegetation. The river crossing was the icing on the cake and we were able to make the most out of having a 4x4. But that wasn't the end to our day's adventures. Lewis and I were left puzzled when the road abruptly ended beside a raging river with no clear way across. What were we to do now?
