Germany’s new development minister seeks alliance with global South | DW News
DW spoke to Germany's new Development Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan about Germany's plan to reshape its development policy and the creation of new partnerships with the countries of the Global South. Ms Alabali-Radovan pleads for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian access and hostage release in Gaza. She said Artificial Intelligence could help to offset budget shortfalls. Reem Alabali-Radovan (SPD), 35 years old, born in Moscow to Iraqi parents, came to Germany as the child of refugees. She was raised in East Germany and previously served as the federal government's Commissioner for Integration and Anti-Racism in the Chancellery. Since 2021, she has been a member of the Bundestag, and earlier she was the Commissioner for Integration in the government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The interview was conducted at the Hamburg Sustainability Conference by DW-correspondent Christina Gerhäusser.
