For decades, every corner of Turkey has been waiting for justice for unsolved murders. Two months ago, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced the establishment of the Department for Investigating Unsolved Crimes. Along with this, he gave the "good news" that unsolved cases of femicide would be taken down from the shelves. According to Gürlek's statement, 638 unsolved cases have been identified in 75 provinces. How these cases were selected, or whether this is the total number of unsolved cases, remains unclear. The fact that the department, which has begun working with cases known to the public, exists is actually a sign of a major failure.
