Art Deco Capital NAPIER and The Oldest Winery in New Zealand | NORTH ISLAND NZ TRAVEL VLOG 2/5

Continuing on from our previous NZ road trip vlog, in this video we made our way over to Napier which is in the Hawke's Bay region (and North Island) of New Zealand . Napier is a popular tourist city here in NZ and it has a unique concentration of 1930s Art Deco architecture especially in its town centre. In fact, Napier is known as the "Art Deco Capital of New Zealand". Some even claim it to be the "Art Deco Capital of The World". We made a couple of stop offs on the way from Cambridge to Napier to soak in some sights, like Waipunga Falls (roughly 1 hour from Napier) and to also stretch our legs from the constant driving. Waipunga was a really cool waterfall to see. The thing we had on our minds though was where to eat in Napier's town centre. Since we love Asian food, we found a nice Malaysian restaurant right next to Marine Parade called Faith Hope Love. Thankfully we made it before they closed so we were able to get a good feed and recharge ourselves. We stayed in a really clean, comfortable and spacious studio on Hospital Hill which had an incredible view of Napier and our host Jill even provided breakfast items as part of her accommodation offering. Mission Estate Winery was established in 1851 in Hawke's Bay and is one of the largest wineries in the region. It's also wholly New Zealand owned. Friendly staff, great food and a nice laid back ambiance plus Peter did a little wine sampling so we could choose which Hawke's Bay wine to get as a gift for our parents.
