Not only is the motor more efficient than conventional drive technology in certain operating phases, but above all, it's significantly more energy-efficient! Vitesco Technologies, the company behind the new motor, is a division of Continental AG. The company is headquartered in Regensburg, but employs more than 40,000 people at around 50 locations. (Source 3) In 2018, the company generated revenue of €7.7 billion. So when this company unveils a new engine technology, it's not just the brainchild of a startup. (Source 3) This is a technology that will be widely adopted in new automobiles. And with that, we're at the forefront of a global trend. Pretty much every car brand outside of China is currently working on drive systems that no longer rely on permanent magnets or are at least trying to drastically reduce the amount of permanent magnets required.
