In this episode, we discuss debt and the CFA franc with Ndongo Samba Sylla. Ndongo Samba Sylla is a development economist and program manager at the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Dakar. His latest book, "The Weapon of Françafrique: A History of the CFA Franc," co-authored with Fanny Pigeaud, was published by La Découverte. He explains the mechanisms that have led many African countries to maintain a colonial economy from independence to the present day, and how the entire system could be fundamentally transformed. This is the doctrine of economic and monetary sovereignty. He sheds light on the missing links between domestic markets and the real, available resources of African societies, with great clarity.
