Princess Royal helps celebrate the 150th Argyllshire Gathering Oban Highland Games in Scotland 2021

The 150th Argyllshire Gathering, Oban Highland Games, were attended by the Princess Royal and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence. Princess Anne and her husband spent time meeting the Stewards, competitors and pipers, including award winning Scottish Bagpiper Stuart Liddell from Inveraray, Argyll. This was a glorious day and all the more special for its celebration and as one of the only Highland Games in Scotland during 2021. The Oban Games – The Argyllshire Gathering – is one of the largest in Scotland and attracts international visitors and competitors to its events, many of which are for Scottish championship titles. This is especially true for the Pipers, as the Games attracts many of the best pipers in Scotland. There were also displays by young talented pipers and drummers from the Oban High School Pipe Band, who marched around Mossfield Stadium in glorious sunshine. As a traditional Games, there were also dancing competitions, heavy events like the weight for distance and tossing the Caber, athletic events and the Tug of war challenges. Oban Games is a great day, which starts with the march of the Stewards from Oban to Mossfield Stadium. Well worth visiting if you get the chance.
