Today I am starting a new project made "In the name of the patient". In the name of the one who no longer has the strength to speak after going through the traumatic or dramatic experience of healing in a hospital in Romania. For the system, these people unfortunately become numbers in statistics. But beyond the numbers there are incredible stories and these events must be told. They are the most real picture of the Romanian medical system. Today's story is about survival, but also about luck. In Romania in 2020, you need a lot of luck if you want to walk on your own feet, as a patient, from a hospital. 7 years ago, a child received a terrible diagnosis and a single medical indication: LIVER TRANSPLANT. In the land of waiting lists, the news is similar to a death sentence. Around 400 patients, with various liver diseases, are numbers on a waiting list. And in Romania, around 60 or 70 transplants are performed in a year. The mother of this child became the life-saving donor. But, as you will see, the situation was not resolved simply. Anca Ștefan, the patient in today's episode, also speaks on behalf of the patients who succeeded. She is a model of how to face a serious health problem, with optimism, trust in doctors, but also in God.
