A Tribute to the Schumanns - for Orchestra
Program note: A Tribute to the Schumanns is a piece for orchestra based on two themes by the titular composers, the first being from Clara Wieck-Schumann’s Op. 7, Concerto in A minor, Mvt. III, written between 1833 and 1835. The second theme is from Robert Schumann’s Bunte Blätter, Op. 99, No. 4, from 1853 (a theme that Clara also wrote variations on in her Op. 20, Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann). This piece is both a reimagining of their works, and a representation of the musical collaboration they shared that they are still famous for today.
