CIRDAP Knowledge Series – 59: Celebration of the International Year of Women Farmers

For the celebration of the International Year of Women Farmers-2026, CIRDAP together with APAARI, ARINEENA, CACAARI, & FARA, is jointly co-organized a Webinar Series titled ‘Women Farmers Leading Climate-Resilient Farming’, on 23 June 2026 at 3:00 PM (Bangkok Time)/2:00 PM (Dhaka Time). The webinar particularly focused on Women’s leadership in climate change adaptation and resilience-building, Climate-smart and nature-positive agricultural practices, & Risk management, diversification, and ecosystem-based approaches. Background & Rationale: Women farmers constitute a substantial proportion of the agricultural workforce across Asia, the Pacific, and the Near East and North Africa regions. They contribute significantly to agricultural research, extension, production systems, climate adaptation, value chains, and agri-food systems transformation. However, their roles, knowledge systems, and leadership remain inadequately recognized, documented, and supported within formal research, extension, and policy frameworks. In the context of the International Year of Women Farmers, the Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI) and the Association of Agricultural Research Institutions in the Near East and North Africa (ARINEENA) propose to jointly organize a Webinar Series in 2026. This initiative aims to provide a structured and evidence-based platform to highlight the contributions of women farmers and women professionals, facilitate inter-regional knowledge exchange, and strengthen research–extension–policy linkages.
