Sarvaš 4K 🇭🇷 | Driving Through a Peaceful Slavonian Village near Osijek, Croatia (July 15, 2025) Sarvaš is a suburban settlement of the city of Osijek, located east of the city on the road leading to Aljmaš, in Osijek-Baranja County. The area around Sarvaš is known for its exceptionally rich archaeological sites associated with the Vučedol Culture, one of the most important prehistoric cultures of this part of Europe. The settlement was first mentioned in 1279 and, throughout its history, was owned by several noble families, including the Lacković, Korođ, and Berislavić families. A particularly significant period in its recent history occurred in 1991 during the Croatian War of Independence, when the non-Serb population was expelled from the settlement and the village was renamed Jelenovo. Following the peaceful reintegration of the region, conditions were established that enabled residents to return to their homes. Today, Sarvaš is a quiet suburban settlement of Osijek with a rich historical heritage spanning from prehistory to the modern era.
