The thing is, these handles are a bit expensive, and the owner often ends up leaving them damaged anyway. Today I'm going to talk about my experience replacing one of these side handles and my attempt to do it with little investment, which almost went wrong. When I saw the price of the entire handle, which is around R$300, I thought it was expensive and researched a bit more until I found just the missing external plastic refill for mine. This one costs less than R$50, so without hesitation I bought it right away. What I didn't take into account was that the ad said it was a replacement for the "rear" door handle of the Doblò and didn't mention anything about the "side" handle, and because externally and functionally the two were exactly the same, I bought it anyway. When the day of the replacement arrived, I removed the old handle, which has a round-head screw that needs a few taps to come out, and a Torx-head screw that came out easily. When installing the new handle, I noticed that the plastic rod that should access the mechanism to move the tab that opens the door was actually 2cm shorter and didn't fit. The correct thing to do in this case would be to cancel the service and buy the entire new handle, including the internal mechanism, because there is no replacement part for the side door, only for the rear door. But it's at times like these that my hand trembles with the urge to improvise, lol. I decided to make two 2cm metal rods to compensate for the smaller size and fixed them with a very strong screw and locknuts. I tested it and it worked very well. After this small setback, I put it back in the car, lubricated the lock with WD40 and tested it. I found that everything works fine, including the electric lock. To perform a service like this with adaptation and replacement of the door handle, the price can be R$250. Thank you for following me this far and I look forward to our next topic.
