Kurt Cobain's Hollywood Hills Home EXPOSED After Years of Neglect

Today we are in Hollywood Heights visiting Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s Alta Loma Terrace home. The couple lived in this home from 1992 to 1993. After moving from their Spaulding Avenue apartment, this was where Frances Bean was born in August 1992. A month later, a Vanity Fair article alleging drug use during Courtney’s pregnancy sparked an LA County investigation, briefly removing Frances from their care before her swift return. The house, one of the neighborhood’s oldest, is in disrepair. In 2021 when it sold, it was ineligible for traditional financing. Despite efforts to preserve it as a Historic-Cultural Monument, the 2022 vote failed, and the owner plans to demolish it. Kurt wrote much of In Utero here, and Courtney began writing Live Through This. Previously owned by actor Philip Ahn in the ‘70s, the home overlooks the Hollywood Bowl. I’m showing it from the Bowl’s parking lot and via drone, highlighting the private elevator and steep pedestrian path nearby. Photos from their time here, including a family photo shoot with Frances, match the listing’s interiors, like the bookcases and sofa area. It’s sad to see this piece of music history fading.
