This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Kings, Queens, and Saints: the patients of Dr. Philippe Charlier, a forensic anthropologist, come from history. At 36, Philippe Charlier, a medical doctor, a doctor of science (ethics), and a doctor of letters, is a lecturer and hospital practitioner in Paris (UVSQ, AP-HP). Philippe specializes in the study of ancient human remains and mummies; and, as it happens, his patients tend to be the famous deceased: the kings, queens, and saints of French and European history. As such, he is one of the leading paleopathologists, seeking to understand the forgotten truths and secrets of the (sometimes reviled) leaders of the past.
