The first thing that comes to mind, as well as the first thing that catches your eye when watching his films, is his lush, vibrant and bold style which dominates each frame of his work dating as far back as "I killed my mother" which he made at the tender age of 19. This lavish, rich style would come to define a large part of his reputation as a filmmaker, but what really sticks with you is his sensitive and empathetic depiction of complex characters and a deep understanding of the power of storytelling, his style has always been an extension of his ability to tell stories in the most beautiful ways.
