The door sashes, door handles, and most other moldings and trims will be replaced from clear-painted to chrome-plated. Engine and Transmission The car will initially be inspected with the original engine and transmission installed. It will be driven for a while in this state, and a power check will be performed. Afterward, the engine and transmission will be removed. The engine will undergo a full overhaul and mechanical tuning. The transmission will be overhauled. ■What is the 911? A sports car launched by Porsche in 1965 and still in production today. All models feature a horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine at the rear of the vehicle. Equipped with an engine ■What is a "Narrow"? The early models of the 911 (1965-1973) They are called "Narrow" because they look slimmer than later models Their styling is among the most popular of all 911 models Air-cooled models up to 1997 can be easily modified to look like the Narrow model, making it a popular custom modification. ■What is a 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (73 Carrera)? A special model produced in limited quantities to obtain homologation for racing vehicles It is particularly popular among all 911s It is equipped with a 2.7-liter (210 PS) engine compared to the base model's 2.4-liter (140-190 PS) engine. To reduce weight, the front and rear bumpers are made of FRP. Also, to accommodate wider tires to match the engine power, the rear fenders are widened. These rear fenders were also adopted for the basic model from the 1974 model year onwards. Therefore, replacing the front and rear bumpers of a 930 body with commercially available FRP ones automatically converts it to a 73 Carrera specification. ■What is the 930? In 1974, the 911 was fitted with huge bumpers to comply with American regulations. The appearance changed dramatically. This appearance continued until 1989 and is called the 930 body. ■Ma-san's 911 1982 911SC Equipped with a 3.0-liter engine with 180PS (Japanese specification). Ma-san's purchased car is a dealer car, mileage unknown, and has been left outdoors for 10 years. The engine is from another vehicle. The rear bumper is missing and there is a hole in the front fender. Ma-san plans to restore it while converting it to a narrow-body appearance according to his preference. ■A brief history of the 911 1965-1973 First 911 Narrow Model (2.0-2.4) 1974-1989 930 Body (2.7-3.2) 1990-1993 Type 964 (3.6) 1994-1997 Type 993 Final Air-Cooled Model (3.6) *Figures in parentheses indicate engine displacement (excluding special models) Note: The monocoque body is almost identical across all models up to this point.
