Tips for Stopping the Run - Rex Ryan
Rex Ryan Defensive Coordinator University of Cincinnati Rex Ryan was the defensive coordinator at the University of Cincinnati. Before joining the Bearcat's staff in 19996, Ryan served as the defensive line coach for the NFL's Phoenix Cardinals for two seasons. With seven years of coaching at the division one level, Ryan has utilized the "46" defense with great success. From 1990-93, Ryan served as the defensive coordinator at Morehead State University in Kentucky. His units ranked eighth and 19th nationally in total defense in 1990 and 19992, respectively. A graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State, Ryan began his coaching career in 1987 on the staff at Eastern Kentucky. During his tenure as a defensive ends coach with the EKU Colonels, he tutored three all-American players. In 1989, Ryan served as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at New Mexico Highlands.
