How to understand the difference between manifold and ported vacuum sources
All engines use vacuum in some capacity. On older vehicles the carburetors were often designed with different vacuum ports to provide either straight manifold vacuum or delayed ported vacuum. Follow along as I explain the differences, provide a quick way of figuring out which port does what, and also provide some info on Temperature Vacuum Switches. Trivia #1: The carburetor in this video uses manifold vacuum for the EGR but incorporates a TVS in the radiator tank to control vacuum application.
