Kevin Ayers on his English accent
Along with his Soft Machine bandmate Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers has often been praised for being one of the first rock vocalists to sing in a British accent, as opposed to trying to sound like an American. In this excerpt from our 2000 interview, Kevin explains that this wasn't at all because he was proud of his accent, quite the reverse actually.
