Josie’s Journey - a legacy of love and awareness

At St Luke’s specialist unit at Turnchapel, Josie is spending precious time with the people she loves most - her husband Laith and their daughters, Becca and Sophie. Living with terminal cancer, she is focusing on comfort, calm and making memories that will stay with her family forever. With support from our care teams, Josie has enjoyed movie nights, beauty sessions, sleepovers with her girls and even a private family screening of the latest Avatar film. There has been laughter, tears and moments of deep tenderness. This is hospice care. It’s love, spoken out loud. Alongside creating memories with her family, Josie has been sharing her experience to raise awareness of melanoma. She wants others to check their skin, notice changes and trust their instincts. Her message is simple and urgent: Be vigilant. Check your moles. Get anything unusual looked at. Josie told us: “If even one person gets a suspicious mole checked, I’ll feel like I’ve done my job.” At St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, care like this is only possible thanks to the kindness of our community. 1 in 4 of the patients we look after is cared for because someone chose to leave a gift in their will. If you’d like to help ensure this care continues for families across Plymouth, South West Devon and the South Hams, you can find out more here: www.stlukes-hospice.org.uk/will Thank you for helping this care live on — for now, and for the future.
