I recently purchased the ICOM IC-DPR4 digital simplex transceiver. While its compact size is its selling point, it lacks the antenna swapping that's available on other digital simplex transceivers. Its 2W transmission output compares it to the 1W output of its predecessor, the ICOM IC-DPR3. Does it compensate for the shorter antenna? I'll be comparing transmissions between two ICOM transceivers. I'll be holding the transceiver and transmitting while moving, assuming practical use.
