Finding My Way After Parkinson’s Diagnosis

In this video I talk about what the years after my diagnosis have really been like- from fear and isolation to learning how to move forwards, manage change, and integrate PD into my life. I talk of how I began reaching out to an online community, discovered a podcast that probably saved my life and via a silent meditation Buddhist retreat found community, love and hope. This is the final part of my Parkinson’s story. If you’re newly diagnosed or supporting someone with Parkinson’s, I hope this series helps you feel less alone. Since making this video, I have featured as a guest on the Podcast I mention , 2 Parkies In A Pod’ and in a yoga video I collaborated on with Dawn the yoga teacher. Both videos are in my playlists, alongside other collaborations.    • Collaborations   In the video I mention Gaia House, a Buddhist silent meditation retreat in the UK. They will welcome you and run retreats for beginners through to folks who are more familiar with meditation practice. The house is located in the beautiful countryside of Devon and they run retreats on a sliding scale, so even people who are on a low income can come on retreat. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to attend- https://gaiahouse.co.uk/ Also I mention these YouTube channels and a podcast now- @EmmaLawton David sangster @tapehead81 David @lifewithparkinsons Jennifer @ParkinsonsWigglesProject Parkinson‘s with Jeremy Mac @jeremymacdonald    • Scott from Parkinson’s and the Invisible Man   Esther @shakinginmyboots1 I forgot to mention in the video Natalie‘s channel- @ParkinsonsGirlie Book- Humankind by Rutger Bregman #parkinsonsawareness #yopd #chronicillnesscommunity #YoungOnsetParkinsons #invisibleillnessawareness #parkinsonssupport
