Forging a Historical War Hammer (+1 War Hammer of Social Distancing)

This was a blast to make! First off: This is inspired by Matt, Ilya and Chris over at That Works. They did one like this and made a great video so go check it out!    • Forging a [War Hammer] - 1st Historical Build   I started with a piece of 2" round printing press roller and with my dad's help, we forged this war hammer. I am very happy with how this came out and did not expect it to be this great! The flanges on the face posed the biggest problem and they were very difficult to forge, and keep centered and straight and not twisted from the rest of he hammer. I glued together two pieces of ash for the handle, shaped it on the grinder then burned and wire brushed the wood to get the menacing look and insane texture: it feels awesome! I added a flared brass tube at the end so that a lanyard could be used but also because I felt that it needed a hint of brass. Overall it weighs just over 2.5 lbs and is about 23" long.
