24/02/2026 - PETIT TRICOTAGE À BOURG ST-BERNARD - PLAN DE TCHOLEIRE ET LES DARREYS - SKI DE RANDO

FICHIER/FILE GPX : https://www.wikiloc.com/back-country-... Hello everyone. After the snowfall of the past few days, the idea was to find a safe route to enjoy the good weather and the fresh snow. So I headed to the Great St. Bernard area with the intention of climbing either Telliers or Barasson. But when I arrived in Bourg-Saint-Bernard, it was already very mild for the season. Given the warm temperatures, I decided to change my plans. Watching several skiers making tracks toward Plan de Tcholeire, I eventually decided to follow them. On the way up, I caught up with the two ski tourers who were breaking trail and asked whether they were heading to the South Menouve Pass, a place I had never visited before. Unfortunately, they were planning to continue toward Barasson, so I wouldn’t be able to follow them. The descent down to Hospitalet was magnificent, with excellent snow conditions. A real pleasure to ski. Back in Bourg-Saint-Bernard, the day was far from over. I put the skins back on and headed toward Les Darreys, following the old ski-lift track. As I climbed around noon, I wondered what condition the snow would be in after several hours of sun exposure. The snow had transformed, but I was still hoping to find good spring snow. Shortly before the descent, I heard a loud rumbling twice from the slopes of Mont de Pro. A glide avalanche was coming down in the area, a reminder that the mountains can change quickly with these temperatures. It was time to put the skis back on. And the descent was exceptional. Perfect spring corn snow, even better than I remembered from last year. Only the final few meters became a bit sticky due to the warmth. A superb day with two very different atmospheres: powder snow from Plan de Tcholeire in the morning, followed by dreamlike spring corn snow at Les Darreys to finish the day.
