Understanding Wavelengths & Parameters
Laser therapy is now referred to as photobiomodulation therapy or PBMT and has over 4 decades of research investigating the clinical effectiveness of certain wavelengths and other parameters like frequency (pulses of light), dosage (Joules of energy) and treatment regimes. There is consensus on some of these parameters but there is still ongoing research that will help provide even more guidance for clinicians on these parameters with the goal of improving clinical efficacy. Many claims are made about parameters that claim deeper penetration or better clinical results but are these all accurate?
