New Caledonia is experiencing a decline in birth rates, an aging population, and a population loss. On June 2nd, the ISEE (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies) updated several demographic indicators related to births, deaths, and marriages. Combined with the initial results of the 2025 census, these figures confirm a fundamental trend: the territory's population is shrinking while its natural growth rate is slowing.
