Eduardo Neves, an archaeologist and professor at the University of São Paulo, has been conducting research in various areas of the Amazon rainforest for years. His work, documented in scientific papers and books, has led to the discovery that much of the Amazon rainforest was planted by ancestral peoples over several centuries. Neves identified a pioneering agroforestry practice in the behavior of indigenous peoples who created roads supplied by trees bearing edible fruits, such as açaí, bacabal, and various types of chestnuts.
