La pêche du maquereau

In summer, mackerel fishing is one of the most profitable and fun ways to catch fish. But first you have to find the fish! In this video, we leave from Cancale, and we initially fish for sea bass in the bouchots, in the bay of Mont Saint-Michel, when the surface activity invites us to move on to fishing for mackerel with jigs and feather trains. Birds dive on the surface: this is the sign that predators are hunting in the schools of sprats, probably mackerel or horse mackerel. In fact, the catches are numerous! I take this opportunity to present the characteristics of the Scombridae (the mackerel family) as well as that of the Carangidae, a family that contains the horse mackerel of our coasts, but also the famous trevally. At the end of the video, Hubert prepares us a delicious recipe: mackerel rillettes!
