Magnetic Infinity Cube Fidget Toy

Why This project explored fidgeting as a physical interaction. I wanted to design a small object that could create a satisfying, repeatable hand movement while also giving the user a sense of control and rhythm. The infinity cube format was chosen because it encourages continuous motion, folding, flipping, and tactile engagement, making it useful as a small stress-relief or focus object. How The design focused on the movement and snap of the cube. I developed the object as a set of repeated cube units that could fold into different positions while staying connected as one continuous form. Magnets were added to the sides of the cube to create a stronger tactile response, giving the object a satisfying “snap” when the surfaces connected. This made the prototype more engaging than a loose folding cube because the magnetic feedback gave each movement a clear physical endpoint. 3D Printing + Prototype The fidget toy was developed through rapid prototyping and 3D printing to test scale, hand feel, movement, and magnet placement. The printed cube units allowed me to check how the object behaved in the hand and how the magnets affected the folding motion. Through assembly and testing, the prototype explored the relationship between simple geometry, repeated parts, magnetic force, and tactile interaction.
