Until around 1980, Miyagi Prefecture's soba culture was not as good as that of Yamagata Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture, but recently the number of soba restaurants that are comparable to those in Yamagata and Fukushima has increased, and Miyagi soba culture has blossomed throughout the prefecture.
