FONTANA, I GIOVANI, GLI AMBIENTI Con Silvia Bignami e Giorgio Zanchetti Silvia Bignami e Giorgio Zanchetti raccontano attraverso immagini, documenti e testi, il ruolo fondamentale che Lucio Fontana ha svolto nel sostegno e nella crescita delle generazioni di artisti più giovani. Fin dalla seconda metà degli anni Quaranta, Fontana è catalizzatore del raggruppamento spazialista, riferimento dei primi esponenti del nuclearismo e di molte delle tendenze, milanesi ma non solo, “oltre” l’informale. Nel 1958, presentando la sua sala personale alla Biennale di Venezia, Guido Ballo scrive: “Fontana ha più di tanti altri sentito e vissuto i fermenti di una cultura nuova: oggi è vicino ai giovani, ne ha già precorso con libertà certe poetiche”. Non a caso, l’anno successivo, questo testo di Ballo viene ripubblicato sul primo numero di “Azimuth”, la rivista di punta della nuova avanguardia milanese. Dal lavoro di Fontana traggono spunti importanti le sperimentazioni di giovani artisti come Castellani, Manzoni, Bonalumi, degli esponenti del Gruppo T e del Gruppo Enne, di Dadamaino, Scheggi, Nanda Vigo, ma anche di Fabro e Paolini. In questa dinamica riveste grande importanza il suo lavoro pionieristico sugli ambienti, che porta nel 1967 alla sua consacrazione come anticipatore e iniziatore dell’arte ambientale nella mostra “Lo spazio dell’immagine” (Foligno) dove, oltre a un Ambiente spaziale di Fontana, vengono presentate diciannove opere di artisti italiani delle ultime generazioni tra cinetici, pop e poveristi interessati alla dimensione ambientale dell’arte. http://www.hangarbicocca.org/evento/f... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FONTANA, THE YOUNG ARTISTS, THE ENVIRONMENTS With Silvia Bignami e Giorgio Zanchetti Silvia Bignami and Giorgio Zanchetti will use images, documents, and texts to describe Lucio Fontana’s fundamental role as a supporter and mentor for younger generations of artists. In the second half of the 1940s, Fontana spearheaded the Spatialist movement, a touchstone for early representatives of Arte Nucleare and many of the currents—in Milan and elsewhere—that looked “beyond” Informel. In his catalogue introduction for Fontana’s solo room at the Venice Biennale in 1958, Guido Ballo wrote, “To a greater degree than others, Fontana has sensed and tasted the ferment of a new culture: he is close to the young artists of today, having already freely traveled certain trails before them.” Not coincidentally, Ballo’s essay was republished the following year in the first issue of the magazine Azimuth, a rallying point of the new Milanese avant-garde. Fontana’s work provided important inspiration for the experiments of young artists like Castellani, Manzoni, Bonalumi, the members of Gruppo T and Gruppo Enne, Dadamaino, Scheggi, and Nanda Vigo, but also Fabro and Paolini. One major aspect of this influence was his groundbreaking work with “environments”. In 1967, he was honored as the forerunner and pioneer of installation art in the exhibition “Lo spazio dell’immagine” (Foligno): alongside an Ambiente spaziale by Fontana, it presented nineteen works by a younger Italian artists, including figures from the kinetic art, Pop, and Arte Povera movements, who explored the environmental side of art. http://www.hangarbicocca.org/en/event...
