Another char about 10 kilometers long has emerged south of the separate union Urirchar, which emerged in the 1960s to the northwest of Sandwip. In addition to the new chars that have developed on three sides of Sandwip, about 5,000 square kilometers of new land has emerged, including Nijhum Dwip, Char Kabira, Char Kalam, Char Alim, Char Sagarika, Uchkhali, New Dhalchar, and adjacent to Hatia Dwip to the west.
