The Story & Geography: Tangier sits at the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, just 14km from Europe. For 2500 years this was a Phoenician, Roman, Arab, and European crossroad. The ancient Medina you see at the start was built on a hill, designed to protect against invaders. Narrow alleys, white walls, and 9 historic gates. Then drive 10 minutes and everything changes. "New Tangier" started exploding after 2004. The Corniche, Marina Bay, and business towers were built to turn Tangier into Africa’s gateway to Europe.
