How To Winterize An Inboard Engine
Discount Inboard Marine wants to show you how to winterize your inboard! Here are the steps: Be sure your gas tank is full to keep out condensation and that it has stabilizer in it to keep your fuel fresh. Change the fuel filter. Change engine and transmission fluids. Run engine long enough so stabilizer goes through entire fuel system. Next Fog cylinders with spray fogging oil. Spray into carburetor or throttle body while engine is running (each cylinder if multi port injection). Remove all engine and exhaust manifold drain plugs. Consult manufacturer or dealer for catalyst exhaust system winterization procedures. Then, Loosen your alternator belt and raw water pump belt so they are in a relaxed position. Remove your impeller from the raw water pump and keep it in a seal tight bag. After all of that, rotate your steering wheel from lock-to-lock position two or three times a month to keep cable lubricated and help eliminate condensation problems. Disconnect and store your battery according to manufacturer's instructions. Call the skidim team at 803-345-0996 with any questions!
